Steelhead
A trip down steelhead alley.

We have been guiding for Great Lakes Steelhead since 1994. Let our guides show you the ins-and-outs of finding, understanding and catching fish in the Lake Erie tributaries. We guide the Erie trips from Vermillion OH to Girard PA. Our team of guides have an intimate knowledge of each one of these tributaries and can effectively fish you in any condition Mother Nature throws at us.
Location
Location varies based on current weather and water conditions. We fish the tributaries between Vermillion OH and Girard PA.
Season
Steelhead season begins in late October and usually lasts through mid April as long as the water temperatures stay cool enough.
Species Description
A great species for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Techniques included indicator fishing, dry dropper rigs (low clear water technique), swinging streamers and stripping streamers. Anglers that are just starting out fly fishing will find success during the whole season as these techniques really don't require prior experience. For the intermediate to advanced anglers, trying something new like swinging or stripping streamers can be quite exciting and a great way to change things up from the standard indicator fishing. The best months are October-December (Fall) and March-April (Spring), however, anglers should not shy away from January and February as they can produce spectacular fishing if the deep freeze of winter hasn’t set in. We’ll fish rivers from Vermillion, OH to Girard, PA and everything in between.
